About Us

We are the chapter of USA Dance serving the north-central portions of the state of New Mexico. We promote ballroom dancing in its social and competitive forms. We sponsor two dances each month for our members and the public, in addition to various special events.

Our dance parties are held on the first and third Sundays of every month.
The first Sunday dance includes a mini-lesson from 6:30 to 7:10 PM, and our
3rd Sunday dances feature demos by outstanding amateur or professional
dancers. These performances are typically at around 7:30 PM and are well
worth seeing!

We introduced our Dance Hosts program at the January 4th dance in 2010, and it was a hit! Dance Hosts are carefully chosen dancers who carry out their role as party hosts by dancing with as many newcomers and beginners as they can during the evening. The reviews are in, and our dancers love the dance hosts! Truth be told, the Dance Hosts love what they are doing, too. We now have nice badges for them to wear, so you can clearly identify these special people. Oh yes, you don't have to wait for them to ask you to dance. It is OK to ask them to dance, too.

Our 5th Annniversary Celebration on April 16, 2011 was a huge success! We held a fantastic party at Hotel Albuquerque with music from the Ken Anderson Orchestra, special performances by a dance troupe of professional and amateur dancers coached by Joe Moncada, and plenty of open dancing for the large crowd who attended. It was a very special evening to honor our original Steering Committee (Ed Jonas-Morrison, Shawna Hollen Ballay, Ben Porter, Sally Semm, Caren Waters, and Anna Watkins) and to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of USA Dance of North Central New Mexico.
