Sunday’s dance is 3 years in the making
Our next USA Dance — this Sunday, April 2 — features a lesson that’s been three years in the making.
Susan and Gary Kellogg were originally scheduled to teach a Night Club Two-Step lesson in March 2020. But that dance never happened — it was our first casualty of the coronavirus pandemic. So we’ve invited them back to finish what they never got a chance to start.
Sunday’s dance is 3 – 5 p.m. at the Albuquerque Square Dance Center, 4915 Hawkins St. NE. Doug McClellan will DJ.
The Kelloggs’ free Night Club lesson will start at 2:15 p.m. Gary and Susan have been teaching dance for more than 30 years and currently teach through UNM’s Continuing Education program. Many of you know them through the Albuquerque Dance Club, which Susan co-founded and is now in its 29th year.
See you on the dance floor!
Join the cleanup crew. We are seeking volunteers to represent our USA Dance chapter at the Albuquerque Square Dance Center’s annual cleanup day. Cleanup crews from the many dance groups that use the ASDC will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 15. If you are able to lend a hand, please email Larada Miller-Horner of the ASDC board, larada@icloud.com.
Rio Grande Dance Classic. The Rio Grande Dance Classic is April 13–16. Come to cheer for your fellow USA Dancers who are competing in the swing, Country, ballroom and Latin events — and stay for the social dancing and the dozens of dance workshops that are going on all weekend.
We’ll publish a special note soon with the details for those of you who are interested.
