Tango and a dance performance … Sunday at USA Dance
Our next USA Dance social dance party is 3–5 p.m. this Sunday, March 3, at the Albuquerque Square Dance Center, 4915 Hawkins St. NE.
Come early for a Standard tango lesson at 2:15 p.m., taught by Stefan Easter of 2 Left Feet. The CSP Dance Team will also perform. Doug McClellan will DJ.
Admission is $5 for USA Dance members and $10 for others.
You do know Jack. At the next two dances (March 3 and 17) we’re taking signups for a Jack & Jill dance contest on April 7. A Jack and Jill pairs leaders (Jacks) and followers (Jills) at random. These insta-couples will then dance a rumba, cha cha, East Coast Swing, and waltz.
A distinguished judging panel — Rosa Delgadillo Burt of Abracadabra Ballroom Dance Co., and Michiko Sibley, formerly of Arthur Murray — will score couples on all dances and choose overall winners.
It’s a lot of fun, and a chance to dance for fame and fortune. OK, how about fame and trophies, like the one Anna Watkins is holding in the photo.
Coming up. Our March 17 dance will be a big one. We’re celebrating our 18th anniversary and hosting a ballroom shoe swap. It’s also a Member Appreciation Dance, so members get in free. We’ll have more information later.
