Celebrate Hollywood … Sunday at USA Dance

Dress as a movie star or character for our Academy Awards dance

Sunday is Academy Awards day — and we’re rolling out the red carper at USA Dance.

Dress as a movie character or movie star and take home your own little Oscar!

We’ll have a red carpet on hand along with our own paparazzo (photographer Norman Thornton), who will be taking photos of our “movie stars.” (We will ask participants to sign a photo release.)

And if you’re not into costumes, no worries — every film needs an audience.

Joseph Chavez and Alexa Estrada will perform a theatrical foxtrot to Singin’ In The Rain. 

DJ Doug McClellan will cue up a playlist full of movie tunes.

The dance is 3 – 5 p.m., so we’ll be finished as the real Academy Awards ceremony is starting. Come early for our pre-dance lessons:

1:45 p.m. Line Dance lesson (samba)
2:15 p.m. Beginner’s B2B lesson, led by Debra Williams
2:15 p.m. Int/Adv lesson: Samba, taught by Frances Burch.

Our venue is the Albuquerque Square Dance Center, 4915 Hawkins St. NE.

Admission for all of this is just $5 for USA Dance members and $10 for others.

All social dancers are welcome — no partner required. See you on the dance floor!
