Join us this Labor Day Weekend for an upbeat performance by the Energy and Rhythm Salsa Dance Team (pictured), and a quickstep lesson by Enchantment Dancing’s Cristel Pike.

Plus, we’re seeking a few good volunteers to serve on our board of directors. Read more below.

Cristel’s lesson begins at 2:15 p.m., followed by dancing from 3 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. We’re at the spacious Albuquerque Square Dance Center, 4915 Hawkins St. NE. Doug McClellan will DJ.

Admission is $5 for USA Dance members and $10 for non-members.

See you on the dance floor!

Energy and Rhythm. The Energy and Rhythm salsa dancers include (from left in photo) Miki Mitsuoka, her husband Mandeep Sahota, and Mandeep’s sister Vicky Sahota. They are forming a new bachata dance team, and will host tryouts from 7 –  8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Lloyd Shaw Dance Center, 5506 Coal Ave. SE.

Energy and Rhythm teaches classes at the Square Dance Center every Wednesday evening. Salsa is 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., followed by casino rueda, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. For more information, talk to them at the dance or email energyyrhythm@gmail.com.

Board members wanted. We are looking for five candidates to serve on our board of directors for 2024 and 2025.

Elections will take place at the Dec. 3 dance. The five new members will join four continuing board members, whose terms expire next year. Sue Thorson and Claude Valles are leading the nominating committee and will provide more information about the election process at upcoming dances, in the newsletter, and here on our website.

Since its founding in 2006, our chapter has been run entirely by awesome volunteers. We hope you will lend us a helping hand and support continued ballroom dancing in Albuquerque!
