Dear social dancers and novices: our FUNdamentals Workshops are for you!

Good dance technique is for everybody — not just advanced or competitive dancers!

Social dancers and novices are especially invited to join us from 2–5 p.m. Sunday, March 30 for FUN-damentals Day. Our USA Dance chapter is partnering with Joseph Chavez Dance for three workshops that will help everyone enhance their dancing.

FUN-damentals Day will be at the same venue as our regular dances: The Albuquerque Square Dance Club, 4915 Hawkins St. NE.

When you know HOW to move, you don’t need to know a lot fancy patterns to enjoy a dance in partnership. It’s more enjoyable to dance a few moves well rather than a lot of fancy moves poorly.

Joseph and his team of dance teachers will use foxtrot, rumba, and swing to teach fundamentals including connection, turns, frame, shaping and swing actions.

Admission is $25 for USA Dance members and $35 for others. Pay by cash or check at the door. Here’s the schedule:

Workshop 1: Foxtrot
2 – 2:50 p.m.

Rules of turns, shaping, body rhythms and frame

Workshop 2: Rumba
3:05 – 3:55 p.m.

Connections, dynamic turns for followers, creative dancing vs. syllabus dancing

Workshop 3: Swing 
4:10 – 5 p.m.
Swing actions, partner communication, and dancing the body 

Admission: $25 for USA Dance members / $30 others
Light refreshments will be available.
