Thank a volunteer … Sunday at USA Dance!

We’ll honor our volunteers at the next USA Dance social dance on Sunday, Nov. 2.

The dance is 3 – 5 p.m., but if you come early you can participate in our free Back to Basics coaching session (led by Debra Williams) at 1:30 p.m. Our lesson, at 2:15 p.m., is rumba, taught by Stefan Easter of the 2 Left Feet dance studio. Debra and Bill Zimmerman will also perform a waltz.

DJ Perry Pedersen is honoring “Women in Song“ with a playlist featuring all female vocals.

Admission is $5 for USA Dance members and $10 for others.

USA Dance is an all-volunteer organization, and these dances wouldn’t happen if not for the volunteers who set up and clean up, check in dancers, find instructors for every lesson, come up with playlists, manage our membership rolls, and much more. Ask a volunteer to dance!

Our venue is the Albuquerque Square Dance Center, 4915 Hawkins St. NE.
Board Elections. We will elect new board members at our Nov. 16 dance, which is also our annual membership meeting. We’re seeking three or four volunteers to replace outgoing board members. Interested? Please talk to Claude Valles or email us at info@usadancenm.org.

Pedal & Swing. DJ Perry Pedersen and his wife, Rosi Rodriguez, host their Pedal & Swing fundraiser dance from 4 – 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at CSP Dance Studios, 1624 Eubank Blvd. NE. All proceeds go to finding cures for MS (multiple sclerosis) and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease). Suggested minimum donation is $10. Perry will play ballroom music from 4 – 5:25 p.m. and club music from 5:35 – 7 p.m.

Saturday night dance. Our annual Holiday Party is 7 – 9 p.m.on Saturday, Dec. 6, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE. There will be no lesson or Back to Basics session — just dancing. There is NO dance on Sunday, Dec. 7.

Social Dance Celebration. USA Dance, our parent organization, invites all social dancers to its first National Social Dance Celebration March 27 – 29 in Pittsburgh, Pa. The weekend will feature more than 36 workshops, social dancing, networking opportunities and chapter leadership workshops. The Social Dance Celebration will take place in conjunction with USA Dance Nationals, the leading competition for amateur ballroom dancers.

Also, check out the photos from our Autumn Spooktacular dance on Oct. 19. See you on the dance floor!
