Our chapter — and president — win top district honors

Rosie Harper

Our USA Dance chapter — USA Dance of North Central New Mexico (Chapter #5047) — has been named district chapter of the year for 2025. And chapter president Rosie Harper was named district Volunteer of the Year.

Both are now in contention for top honors at USA Dance.

“These honorees represent the very best of USA Dance at the local level and now advance as nominees for the National Chapter of the Year and National Volunteer of the Year awards,“ USA Dance said in a statement.

USA Dance oversees some 150 local chapters in 11 districts.
We are in District 7, which includes chapters in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

“I felt chills of joy and excitement when I realized our chapter had been chosen for this honorable award. On top of that, to be recognized as Volunteer of the Year, threw me over the moon,” Rosie said. “I’ve been ‘dancing on cloud 9’ ever since I received the news.“

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all the board members, instructors, DJs, and volunteers who worked many hours last year to make all of dances and our workshop day so successful,” she added. “We are truly blessed to have our amazing venue and our talented, dedicated, crew members.”

USA Dance officials cited the chapter’s “outstanding year marked by growth, creativity, and a strong commitment to building an active and welcoming dance community“ in its nomination for District 7 Chapter of the Year. “With 38–57 attendees at most dances and 32 new members joining in 2025, Chapter 5047 continued to grow, ending the year with 114 members supported by 28 dedicated volunteers.”

”Chapter 5047’s commitment to community, education, and member appreciation was evident throughout the year. Their enthusiasm, consistent programming, and strong volunteer spirit make them a deserving recipient of the 2025 District 7 Chapter of the Year award,“ the national organization said.

In its nomination of Rosie Harper as District 7 Volunteer of the Year, USA Dance noted that Rosie “worked tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that every dance was a joyful, welcoming experience for all who attended. Her attention to detail and passion for creating meaningful connections helped make each event feel special. From coordinating decorations and scene setters to planning creative, fun themes, Rosie went the extra mile to create an atmosphere where dancers felt a true sense of belonging.”
