Dance large this Sunday at USA Dance
Live — and dance — large at USA Dance this weekend. Starting with Sunday’s dance (July 2), we will reopen the entire dance floor and use both halls at the spacious Albuquerque Square Dance Center.
“Now that our chapter is growing again, we need more room,” chapter president DeAnn Eaton said. “Our attendance has steadily increased since we moved back to the Square Dance Center, and we are delighted to support our dancers by reopening the second hall.”
Longtime USA Dancers will remember that we regularly used the entire Square Dance Center floor. But in this post-Covid era, the board wanted to ensure attendance was healthy enough to support the extra cost.
The dance is 3 – 5 p.m. Zephaniah Pilcher (pictured) from CSP Dance Studios will teach a free bachata lesson at 2:15 p.m.
I (Doug McClellan) will DJ, and in honor of July 4 I’m planning a playlist of All-American artists.
The Albuquerque Square Dance Center is located at 4915 Hawkins St. NE.
Admission is $5 for USA Dance members and $10 for non-members.
See you on the (large) dance floor!
Sole comfort. We raised nearly $175 from the shoe sale at our last dance, and we still have a few pairs of gently used dance shoes left over. Look for another sale at our next Member Appreciation Dance on Sept. 17. Thanks to all who donated — and bought — our dance shoes.
Wizard wanted. Anna Watkins is seeking an Excel spreadsheet wizard who can handle the not-too-complicated task of compiling, printing, and delivering the attendance forms we use to check people in at each dance. If you know your pivot tables from your reverse pivots, please email Anna or chat with her at a dance.
