We are celebrating our chapter’s 18th anniversary at Sunday’s dance, March 17.
The chapter’s official birthday is Feb. 28, 2006, when we were certified as USA Dance Chapter #5047.
Groundwork began the previous October with a steering committee organized by “Chapter Mama” Anna Watkins. Since then, our chapter has hosted regular dances and promoted dancing in the community.

Santa Fe dance teacher David Lopez will teach a free mambo lesson at 2:15 p.m. Doug McClellan will DJ.
We’re at the Albuquerque Square Dance Club, 4915 Hawkins St. NE. Admission is $5 for USA Dance members and $10 for others.
This Sunday’s USA Dance is a big one. It’s a Member Appreciation Dance, so USA Dance members get in free.
We are hosting a sale of gently used dance shoes that have been donated by our dancers.
Stefan Easter of 2 Left Feet dance studio will teach a lesson on Viennese waltz. Stefan and our own Debra Williams will also perform a tango demonstration.
The next USA Dance social dance party is 3 – 5 p.m. this Sunday, April 21, at the Albuquerque Square Dance Center, 4915 Hawkins St. NE.
Come early for a cha cha lesson at 2:15 p.m., taught by Mary Miller of Dance Station. Doug McClellan will DJ.

If you can walk, you can dance the merengue! Frances Burch of CSP Dance Studios will teach this fun and accessible dance — the national dance of the Dominican Republic — at USA Dance this Sunday, Aug. 20.
The dance is 3 – 5 p.m., and Frances’ lesson begins at 2:15 p.m.
